The SDV2710 passive indoor antenna by Philips is designed to provide reception of both analog and digital broadcasts. The SDV2710 can receive VHF, UHF, FM and HDTV signals. The reception elements are optimized for digital broadcasts and ensure better reception of ATSC/HDTV signals than a conventional loop antenna. The compact, foldable design makes it easy to store when not in use. Antenna includes 6-foot coaxial cable. |

It's average; similar to other antennas |
I've tried 3 different antennas on my TV. First was an antenna from the dollar store. I thought I could do better, so I then bought a $9.95 RCA branded antenna from Best Buy. Still wanting more, I bought this Philips model. Bottom line: they all perform about the same. I think I got one more channel on the Philips than the others, but because radio waves are fickle, I can't always get a picture when tuned to that channel anyway. Since the antennas don't have any moving parts, I really wonder how different they could perform from each other.
Antenna placement within your dwelling is much more important than the brand or model of antenna that you use. Lesson learned: place the antenna in a window if possible for the best reception. I put my antenna in the bedroom window, and used a 15 foot coax cable to connect it to the TV.
The Philips antenna looks more attractive, so if aesthetics are important to you, you can get this one. However, you can get an antenna that works the same for only a dollar. |

Wrong item for my purposes. |
We tried this antenna on both of our tvs and it didn't work well on either. This product might be really good for someone else who doesn't live in a 'hollow' like we do. It didn't work for us.
On the plus side, the company was very good about providing us with return instructions. |

Great Antenna |
I am new to the whole OTA digital TV and wanted an antenna that needed little setup. I found this antenna at a local retail store and read the reviews here on Satellitetvsports for it, and decided this was the antenna for me.
I chose this antenna because:
-Very easy setup.
-Great reviews.
-Very reasonable price.
-Very easy to replace.
-Very compact
After unboxing the unit, I simply attached the supplied coax cable to my TV, which has a built in digital tuner, and ran the channel search function. To my surprise, I was able to connect to 30 channels. This was more than enough to make me decide to keep this unit. After scrolling through the channels, almost every channel came in crystal clear. I live just outside Orlando, FL.
Although this is the first antenna I have ever owned, it will probably be the only as I am perfectly happy with the amount of channels I am able to receive.
It pays to do the research and figure out what type of antenna will work in your area. A good way to figure out what antenna you need is to log onto [...]. |

Surprisingly strong antenna |

I purchased this antenna over a year ago for a computer in my foyer. It didn't work well in that area (no windows) so I put it away. I pulled it out a week ago and connected it to another computer in a room closer to the window and it worked great. It pulled up 61 channels but I can only receive about 23 to 35 of them (depending on the weather). I live in a high rise right on the lake in Chicago and all of my windows face east. The reason I mentioned that is because all of the antennas are on buildings south and north west of me. I'm getting channels from Ind. wiscon. mich. and chicago and they all come in with a HD signal and quailty. My apartment is on the 43th floor so there's a lot of interference from the steal and metal but this little antenna (philips SDV2710/27) works great. I'd recommend it to anyone in a high rise, as long as it's near a window. |

Doesn't work for me |
|
Purchased this model due to high ratings and good pricing. We are indeed on the fringe of TV reception in our rural location and haven't had much success with indoor antennas. This one was no better than the other makes and models we've tried. Product may be OK for locations with better signal, but we'll never know. Bottom line - if you have bad reception with other antennas, you may very well have bad reception with this antenna, too. |
