Customer Reviews for  'Eagle Aspen Dtv2Buhf Directv 2-Bay Uhf Antenna'

Much improved reception.
Got this because we live near an intersection and get lots of reflections when trucks stop at the light. It greatly improved drop outs when I propped it up next to the wall. I'm going to move it to the attic and hope it will eliminate all my reception problems. I'm located about 4 miles from most of the area towers.

I also took it to a summer home, 35+ miles from most towers. I had only been able to get one station (and it was broadcasting in Spanish). With the Eagle I got a couple more though the converter seemed to be trying to pick up about 5 or six more. Not what I had hoped for. I think if this was a multiple element antenna it might do the trick. Unfortunately Eagle Aspen doesn't seem to make a larger model and I'll have to try the Db4.

Works well on UHF not so much VHF
I live in the Sierra mountains and thought there was a slight chance of receiving
an HD tv station. The antenna was well packaged and quickly shipped.
I wasn't expecting to receive any stations because of the trees, mountains and distance to the HD towers.
Hooked it up and pointed it where I guessed the towers were. Much to my surprise I picked up 3 UHF stations I didn't know existed, but not the 3 network stations I was hoping for. 2 of the unknown stations were in Spanish.
The stations were channels 27, 27-3 and 26. Looked at the antenna box and it clearly says UHF. The 3 network stations are channel 4,7 and 8. All VHF frequences.
So I'm now shopping for a UHF and Low VHF antenna.
This antenna works great it's me that deserves 1 star.

It's no DB2...
Something told me that there must be a reason that the Eagle Aspen was cheaper than the AntennasDirect DB2. I should have listened to the little voice.
In the same position, the DB2 gave me more signal strength on most channels, up to 20% more on some. Since the metalwork appears almost identical on both antennas, I popped off the cover of the DB2 balun. It appears to be some sort of printed circuit. I'm assuming that this design has less signal loss than the Eagle Aspen balun.
Now, I have to note that the geometry of the antennas appeared slightly different. The reflector on the DB2 wasn't perfectly flat, but appeared to have a slight forward bowing, as did the dipole elements. I'm guessing that this wouldn't account for all of the signal level difference, but I'm not a rocket (or antenna) scientist.

The build quality is better on the DB2, as well. The rivets are heavier duty and go through both sides of the square mounting tube. I tried to tweak the reflector on the Eagle Aspen to approximate that of the DB2, and the rivets are coming loose.

Luckily, I need to install an antenna at a house where the signals are strong. The Eagle Aspen should work OK there. I'm keeping the DB2 at home, on my TV, where I try to get some weaker stations.

I say go ahead and spend the extra 12 bucks on the real DB2....

Eagle Aspen Dtv2Buhf Antenna
We live 30-35 miles from broadcast antenna and needed something to pull in signal. Digital signals work or don't work because of scan function. Antenna is mounted 50 ft. up on roof. It picks up 18 of 22 channels available, without an amplifier. This is for an auxillary tv so it is tolerably good. Our main tv has a 25db booster and a larger antenna so I have something to compare to.

Very good reception
This 2 bay antenna did more than expected. I purchased this to accompany us on camping trips to use on my 7" HDTV. (I know you shouldn't need a TV on camping trips) Place it on a 6' pole with a folding tripod stand. My TV picked up a number of channels all digital and we were over 20 miles from the closest broadcast tower.
